18 Examples of Great Text Message Promos for Summertime Promotions and Building Store Traffic
I subscribe to several retailer’s text message promotions and enjoy the creativity of many of the promotional messages. I think it’s really important in text message promotions to use the “voice” that best represents your store “voice.” In Minnesota that may mean adding an occasional “You Betcha!” and in Kentucky it may mean adding an occasional “Y’all” . It’s equally important in your FaceBook posts that the “voice” you use is your own. This week I’m showing some of the better text message promotions that I’ve seen the past month or so and many demonstrate the use of the store’s real “voice.”
You Don’t Have Text Messaging For Your Store? Here’s what you need to do:
1. Contact our Customer Service Reps – Paulino, Nick or Drake – at 480-639-1200 and tell them you want to start up a text message program for your store.
2. While we’re setting up your text message number for your store you can begin collecting mobile phone numbers from your employees so you can demonstrate your new text message program with your own employees in advance of launching your text message program for customers.
3. When we let you know your new text message promotion number you can begin promoting your program in your weekly print ads and in your store to recruit customers to signup. Actually the “signup” is easy – they simply text in your “store keyword” you select and send it to your text message number and they will begin receiving your weekly text deals. Important: They only need to text in the store keyword to your store text message number ONE TIME ONLY. They will keep getting the messages each week and won’t have to do anything after the initial “signup” process.
With the text message program you have the option to send out text promotions any day of the week at any time.
Cost? We have a one time text message number setup fee of $100. After that you pay just $10 a week for the first 250 text messages and 2 cents for 251+ text messages sent out. Example: You send out 500 text messages and it costs just a total of $15.
Pick any ONE of the example text messages below and I’m sure you’ll agree that $10 to $15 is an inexpensive price to pay to motivate your customers to get to your store right away for a great deal.
Some examples of text messages sent out during the past month from C&R Stores, Heartland Stores and Sunshine Food Stores
Three of the many stores and groups that I monitor text messages from include C&R Stores, Heartland Stores and Sunshine Foods. As you can see from the examples below they all have good ideas to promote to their customers via text message. You can see that all three groups use different purchase requirements with their promotional items – ranging from $10 additional purchase up to $25 purchase. You’ll also notice that they use “while supplies lasts” on some of the promotions or put in purchase limits (eg. limit 2).
