New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day Promo Ideas for Grocers
 
Kickoff to a 2 week Football Snack Fest for  35 Bowl Games
 
New Year’s Eve is a week from Tuesday and New Year’s Day parties begin a week from Wednesday and continue through the weekend on January 5th.
Our challenge:  Get shoppers into your store at least 4 times in the 10 day span.
Seem impossible….. it’s not.  You just need to create new reasons every other day for another trip to your store to make a minimum purchase.
This week’s Idea of the Week offers up some ideas for independent grocers to consider to drive traffic from Thursday morning (the morning after Christmas) through Sunday afternoon, January 5th.
Sending out multiple promotion announcements might tempt some of your customers to “opt out” of your eBlasts and text message promotional offers if they don’t see the value you’re offering with the frequency of the receiving of the offers so please be sure to err to the side of making your promotional offers strong enough to keep their attention —– and better yet, give them a reason to swing by your store to pick up some food items for their New Year’s Eve party and the New Year’s Day celebrations and Football snacking the following week.
The 2013-2014 College Football Bowl Schedule begins this Satureday at 2 pm with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl (Washington State vs. Colorado State) and continues through the BCS National Championship with No. 1 Florida State playing No. 2 Auburn in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on January 6th.
The 35 Bowl games between this Saturday and Monday, January 6th present perfect opportunities for you to pull your customers in to your store with special offers in your Deli, Meat, Bakery and Center Store.  Take advantage of your digital marketing solutions over these two weeks to drive store traffic!

Idea of the Week Goal:  Bring customers to your store 4 times between Thursday December 26th and Wednesday January 1, 2014.
Our goal is to encourage your shoppers to spend an additional $100 at your store between 12/26/2013 and 1/1/2014 with promotional offerings with a $25 purchase requirement made available to them December 26, December 28th, December 30th and January 1, 2014.

Since most stores are closed on Christmas Day, there’s always a growing shopping list in most households for the day after Christmas – December 26th.
The first promotion is to send out an eBlast to your subscribing customers so they receive the offer sometime in the afternoon of Christmas Day – December 25th.
