New Feature: English to Spanish Translate Button
New Website Feature- English to Spanish Translate Button For Your Website
About a year ago I was meeting with a retailer couple who mentioned to me that they were trying to reach out to Hispanic shoppers in their community and were pretty perplexed about finding the right “channels” to do so. I remember running some demographic reports from Nielsen Sitereports for the retailers three stores. I wanted to know how many potential Hispanic shoppers were living within 3 miles of each of his stores. I also wanted to know the number of Hispanic shoppers in this same area in 5 years. Two stores were relatively close to one another in Minneapolis. The third store was located in a far western suburb of Minneapolis. My guess is that drive time to the third store is at least 30 minutes to 40 minutes minimum. At that time I saw an 11% Hispanic marketing in each of the three stores. By 2019 the reports showed a 13% Hispanic marketing share in these three stores. Average age of the Hispanic shoppers —– 26 years old.
The couple told me that they had expanded their product offerings to a more extensive line of authentic Hispanic items and really wanted to “get the word out.” Their solution was to enlist the support of an enthusiastic Hispanic shopper who spoke on their behalf (in Spanish) on a local radio station that many of the local Hispanic shoppers listened to each day. Having a Spanish speaking advocate talk about their store worked well! I applaud them for their solution and hopefully they gained new shoppers to their stores. By taking the initiative to reach out to potential new shoppers they have an opportunity with first, second and third generation Hispanic shoppers.
We’re very pleased to announce that we have another potential solution to offer those retailers interested in reaching out to potential Hispanic shoppers – an English to Spanish translation button for their website. You can see the new button on the upper right hand side of this example homepage. If the website viewer wants to change the language back to English, they simply click on the orange “English” button. The button is set up as a “toggle” so the same button is used to switch from English to Spanish or from Spanish to English.
